There are currently no Advisories, Restrictions, or Bans.
Fires and devices allowed under the County’s Fire Bylaw:
- Controlled burns (e.g., yard waste, burn pits) – permit required
- Fireworks – permit required
- Recreational campfires (in approved fire pits)
- Burn barrels and incinerators with spark arrestors
- Charcoal briquette barbecues
- Gas/propane heaters, stoves, barbecues (CSA/ULC approved)
- Wood pellet grills
- Gas/propane firepits/rings (CSA/ULC approved)
To determine when a change in the Fire Status is necessary, Lethbridge County uses a data-driven and evidence-based approach. We regularly review local weather forecasts, wind conditions and vegetation moisture levels, and consult with regional fire chiefs to assess potential risks. When these indicators show an increased chance of fast-spreading fires, the County issues advisories or restrictions to protect public safety and property.
