What is Bylaw 26-008 about?

Bylaw 26-008: Advertising and Public Notification will establish the methods by which Lethbridge County will advertise bylaws, public hearings, and other matters as required under the Municipal Government Act or any other enactment.

The intent of Bylaw 26-008 is to:

  • Ensure compliance with the Municipal Government Act;
  • Improve public access to information;
  • Provide flexibility in advertising methods; and
  • Promote cost-effective and timely notification.

A copy of the bylaw can be viewed at the Lethbridge County Office (#100, 905-4 Avenue South, Lethbridge) during regular business hours.


How do I provide input?

  • In-person: Input can be given on the proposed Bylaw at the Public Hearing on Thursday, April 2, 2026. You will be asked to sign in before speaking in front of Council.
  • Virtually: If you cannot attend the Public Hearing in-person, you can register to provide your input virtually. You must register by emailing crobison@lethcounty.ca no later than 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2026.
  • Written comments: You may also provide a written submission to Council which will form part of the public record and be included in the Council meeting agenda. Written submissions must be sent to communications@lethcounty.ca no later than 4:30 p.m. on March 26, 2026.

Public Hearing - Bylaw 26-006: Land Use Bylaw amendments

What is Bylaw 26-006 about?

Bylaw 26-006 will consider the following Land Use Bylaw amendments:

(a) adding the Solar Energy Commercial (SEC) Overlay District to the Land Use Bylaw;

(b) to add the Solar Energy Commercial (SEC) Overlay District to the subject lands:

  • Portion of SW-36-7-22-4; SE-36-7-22-4; SW31-7-21-4; Portion of NE-25-7-22-4; NW-30-7-21-4; NE-30-7-21-4; SE-31-7-21-4; Portion of SW-30-7-21-4; SE-30-7-21-4

The intent of the Land Use Bylaw amendment application, submitted by Lethbridge Three Solar Corporation, proposes the construction and operation of the 17-megawatt Lethbridge 2 Solar Project and the 140-megawatt Lethbridge 3 Solar Project. The projects have received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).

What is Bylaw 26-005 about?

Bylaw 26-005 will consider text amendments to Lethbridge County’s Municipal Development Plan, related to Large-Scale Commercial Solar Collection. The intent of the amendments is to clarify the regulatory requirements for Large-Scale Commercial Solar Collection projects.

Public Hearing - Bylaw 25-028: Land Use Bylaw amendment

What is Bylaw 25-028 about?

Bylaw 25-028 will consider amendments to the Land Use Bylaw to amend Part 8 Subdivision Criteria with minor complimentary text amendments to Part 3 Land Use Districts.

The intent of the text amendment is intended to update the policies and enable the potential subdivision of a Legacy Yard Site from a title of 80-acres provided certain criteria are met. Additionally, a full review of the subdivision policies has been undertaken to better clarify required minimum and maximum parcel sizes, maximum number of parcels, and remove the subdivision policies for Confined Feeding Operations.
