Official Results Announced in Division 5 By-election
LETHBRIDGE COUNTY – The results of the Division 5 By-election are now official. Kevin Slomp has been elected as Councillor.
A total of 190 votes were cast:
- David Bishop – 27 votes
- Kevin Slomp – 163 votes
Voters in Division 5 had two opportunities to cast their ballots. An Advance Vote was held on Saturday, September 7 in Lethbridge and General Election Day voting was held on Monday, September 9 at the Monarch Community Hall.
Background:
Following the resignation of former Councillor Eric Van Essen due to his moving out of the Division, a by-election was held to fill the vacant seat until the next municipal election in fall 2025. Division 5 is in the northwest portion of the County, including Monarch and the area surrounding the Town of Nobleford and Village of Barons.

- Nomination period: Friday, July 5, 2024 - 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2024
- Nomination Day: Monday, August 12, 2024 (this is the last day you can file nomination papers)
- Advance Vote: Saturday, September 7, 2024, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Lethbridge County Admin Office)
- Voting Day: Monday, September 9, 2024, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Monarch Community Hall)
