Community Funding Opportunities

The County offers a number of funding opportunities, including community grant funding and student funding. See the options below.




Stirling Wind Project Community Funding - Applications open for 2026

Lethbridge County and the Stirling Wind Project have established a Community Benefit Contribution Program. Each year, this program will provide funds for community organizations and post-secondary scholarships.

Grants available: 

  • Community Benefit Scholarship (2 at $2,000 each) - deadline to apply: June 1, 2026
  • Community Benefit Fund (up to $10,000)  - deadline to apply: March 1, 2026


COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION GRANTS: See 2026 recipients.

  • Grants are awarded for projects, events or initiatives related to the promotion of: 
    • Environmental Enhancement 
    • Social Welfare 
    • Arts and Culture 
    • Health and Wellness 
    • Education & Science 
    • Emergency Relief 
  • Projects could include:
    • Capital projects or equipment for the enhancement of community facilities
    • Community Events 
    • Art or Education Programs 
  • Applications for 2026 are closed.
  • Application deadline: March 1, 2026

  • John Davidson School – playground equipment
  • Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) – community fee assistance programming
  • Picture Butte Fish and Game Association – youth camp and junior archery program
  • Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge – Interfaith Learning Garden
  • Jam for Jax – skate jam event for youth
  • TIME Society – 2026 Father Daughter Ball


SCHOLARSHIPS: See past recipients.

  • A minimum of one university or college scholarship to be awarded annually to:
    • high achieving student(s) currently enrolled in high school (includes: Coaldale, Coalhurst, Monarch, Nobleford, Picture Butte, Iron Springs and City of Lethbridge)
    • planning to further their studies in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM-related programs) in the following year.  
  • Annual maximum per scholarship: $2,000 with an annual maximum of $4,000 for all scholarships.

Bursary Program - Applications open for 2026

The Bursary Program exists to provide financial assistance to Lethbridge County citizens who are pursuing a post-secondary education. Each year three students are awarded $1500 each. See past recipients.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Primary Considerations - Open to any student or adult as qualified by the undernoted conditions:  
    1. Shall be a resident of Lethbridge County who is attending school within Lethbridge County’s Municipal boundaries, or
    2. Shall have at one time attended school within Lethbridge County’s municipal boundaries.
  2. Secondary Considerations - Based on an academic standing sufficient to achieve stated goals. Based on good citizenship demonstrated through community and social participation, volunteer work, etc.
  3. Other Considerations
    1. Financial need will be considered.
    2. Applicant need not be a High School student but must provide proof of enrollment in a post-secondary education institute
    3. Is a resident of Lethbridge County and must provide proof of such.
    4. Only students going into first year of studies are eligible to apply.
    5. Has not received the Lethbridge County bursary in the past.
