Council Sworn In; Reeve, Deputy Reeve Elected for 2025-2026 Term
At today’s Organizational Meeting, Tory Campbell of Division 2 was elected Reeve, and John Kuerbis of Division 4 was elected Deputy Reeve, both serving a year term in these positions until October 2026.
Campbell has been on Council since 2017 and is in his third term. This will be his fifth consecutive year as Reeve.
“I appreciate Council’s continued confidence as I step into this next year as Reeve,” says Campbell. “It’s an honour to continue serving as Reeve alongside a team that’s committed to smart growth and strong partnerships. Council is eager to build on the momentum from previous terms and explore new opportunities to strengthen the County. With solid groundwork in place, there’s real potential ahead for innovation and continued prosperity in Lethbridge County.”
Deputy Reeve Kuerbis has been on Council since 2021 and in his second term. This will be his fourth consecutive year as Deputy Reeve.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve again as Deputy Reeve,” says Kuerbis. “In my last term Council focused on collaboration—within our region and across the province— and how it can create meaningful opportunities for growth. I’m looking forward to continuing that momentum, serving our residents and supporting the future of agriculture and innovation in Lethbridge County.”
All members of Council were also sworn in at today's meeting following the municipal election, which saw five incumbents acclaimed and two new members elected. The 2025 – 2029 Council is:
- Lorne Hickey, Division 1
- Tory Campbell, Division 2
- Mark Sayers, Division 3
- John Kuerbis, Division 4
- Kevin Slomp, Division 5
- Eric Van Essen, Division 6
- Tony Ankermann, Division 7
Council also selected members to sit on the internal and external boards, committees, and commissions where a Council representative is required.
