Cereal Grain Cleaned for Seed

Print

All lots of cereal grain being cleaned for seed will require a negative lab analysis for Fusarium graminearum before the lot will be accepted for cleaning.

Lethbridge County has made arrangements with Seed Check Technologies of Leduc, Alberta to pick up cereal grain samples at the Picture Butte Administration Shop, on a regular basis. Turn around time should be 10 days or less. Results will be sent directly from the lab to the producer.

Samples can be dropped off at the Picture Butte Administration Shop between 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday except on Statutory Holidays.

Farmers wishing to use this service are advised that a Lab fee of $37.00 (plus G.S.T.) per sample will be charged.

The samples should be approximately 1 lb. in weight and in a zip lock bag. Labels will be filled out when the samples are dropped off.

Producers who do not wish to use this service or require more information on Fusarium graminearum, or a list of other labs in the province can log onto http://www.agric.gov.ab.ca.

Please phone the County Agricultural Department (403) 732-4744 for further information, or to report a roadside grain spill. If you phone after hours, please leave a message.
