Motorists Asked to Observe Construction Zones and Posted Signage

Post Date:08/01/2018 7:58 AM
LETHBRIDGE COUNTY– Lethbridge County would like to remind motorists to observe construction zones and posted signage for the safety of workers. There are several road projects underway in the County with a number of workers at each site. Crews are frequently experiencing incidents of speeding and reckless driving in construction zones.

When you approach a construction zone, slow down and be aware of the posted speed limit. Watch for workers, vehicles, and other equipment in the area. Be aware that traffic lanes may be changed, and people and vehicles may be working on or near the road.

Motorists are also reminded that fines are doubled for speeding through construction zones when workers are present. It does not matter if the workers are near or working farther down the road; if they are working in the construction zone the fine applies.

“Construction crews are working to make the roads safer for our residents,” says Chief Administrative Officer Ann Mitchell. “When you slow down and obey the speed limit, you help to ensure their workplace is safe and that they can return home at the end of the day.”
