PSA- Safe Highway Practices

Post Date:08/31/2017 10:32 AM

LETHBRIDGE COUNTY- Lethbridge County wishes to remind those farming within the County to engage in safe highway practices, especially as harvest time is in full operation and farm traffic has increased.

Towing semi- trailers behind farm tractors is potentially dangerous, as there is a need for adequate and functioning service and parking brakes on both the tractor and all semi-trailers in tow. Proper registration, as well as signal, brake, and tail lights are also required when towing a semi- trailer. There is also a maximum overall length limit of 23 metres.

In consultation with Alberta Transportation, road safety permits are required to be obtained if Alberta regulations are not met. Alberta regulations can be viewed at www.qp.alberta.ca/Laws_Online.cfm. Permits can be obtained by calling Alberta Central Permitting at 1 (800) 662-7138.

Lethbridge County would like to thank the farming community for their cooperation.
